Chapter 4 of 520% of exam
Connectors and Prepositions
Small words carry big meaning. This chapter covers the prepositions of time and the linking words that show contrast, cause, and result.
Prepositions of Time
Use 'since' with a point in time and 'for' with a length of time: 'since 2015' but 'for ten years'. Fixed phrases like 'at the end of' must be learned as units.
Logical Connectors
'Despite' and 'nevertheless' signal contrast; 'because of' and 'due to' signal cause; 'therefore' signals result. Choose the connector that matches the logic between the ideas.
