BAC limits
A driver 21 or older is legally impaired at 0.08 percent BAC, though you can be charged below that if impaired. Drugs, including cannabis and some medications, can also lead to a DUI.
Zero tolerance under 21
For drivers under 21, Washington sets a 0.02 percent BAC limit under its zero-tolerance rule. Underage drinking and driving can suspend a young driver's license.
Intermediate license and implied consent
Under-18 drivers hold an intermediate license that limits late-night driving and young passengers for the first months, with family and supervised exceptions. By driving you give implied consent to a lawful breath or blood test after a DUI arrest; refusing carries a license suspension.
