Roles and Governance
PRINCE2 defines a clear organisation so authority, responsibility and accountability are unambiguous. This chapter covers the Project Board, the Project Manager, and the supporting roles that provide governance.
The Project Board
The Project Board directs the project and holds the three primary interests: the Executive (business, ultimately accountable and owner of the business case), the Senior User (user needs and benefits realisation) and the Senior Supplier (supplier and technical resources).
Project Manager and Team Manager
The Project Manager runs the project day to day for the board, delivering products within agreed tolerances and escalating exceptions. Team Managers, where used, manage the creation of specialist products and report progress through checkpoint reports.
Assurance, change authority and support
Project Assurance gives the board independent confidence that the project is being run properly. A Change Authority may be delegated to decide on some changes. Project Support provides administrative help such as configuration and planning support to the Project Manager.
