Spotting Usage Errors
Recognizing what is wrong is as useful as producing what is right. This chapter reviews the errors most likely to slip through: countable/uncountable words, pronoun case, and verbs that resist the continuous form.
Fewer vs Less
Use 'fewer' with things you can count ('fewer cars') and 'less' with things you cannot ('less traffic').
Pronoun Case and Stative Verbs
Use subject pronouns for subjects ('The manager and I'). Stative verbs like 'know' and 'believe' are not normally used in the continuous form.
