Terms of Service

Last updated: May 26, 2026

By accessing or using PrepPass (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The short version: PrepPass is a free educational study resource. We do our best, but we don't guarantee you'll pass any exam. Always verify official requirements with the actual licensing board.

1. What PrepPass is

PrepPass is an independent, free educational study resource for California professional license exams, including:

  • CSLB Business & Law (California Contractors State License Board)
  • Cosmetology, Barber, Esthetician, Manicurist (California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology / BBC)
  • California Food Handler Card (ANSI-CFP)
  • Insurance: Life & Accident-Health, Property & Casualty, Personal Lines (California Department of Insurance / CDI)

2. Not affiliated with licensing authorities

PrepPass is an independent study tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB), the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (BBC), the California Department of Insurance (CDI), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), PSI Services, ServSafe, ANSI-CFP, or any other licensing board, testing provider, or government agency.

References to these organizations are for educational context only. Always verify current requirements, fees, procedures, and exam formats with the official authority before scheduling.

3. Practice questions and study content

All practice questions and study chapters on PrepPass are 100% original prose written from public-domain California law and regulations(California Business & Professions Code, Civil Code, Labor Code, Insurance Code, Health & Safety Code, and supporting regulations).

We never copy or paraphrase real exam questions. Real exam content is copyrighted by the licensing boards; we deliberately do not use it.

We make no guarantee that our practice questions match the actual exam. Our questions are designed to test understanding of the underlying law — passing PrepPass practice rounds does not guarantee you will pass any official exam. You should use multiple study resources, including the official study guides published by each board.

4. Accuracy and limitations

We try to keep content accurate and up to date, but California law, exam content, and fees change frequently. Specific dollar amounts (application fees, exam fees, bond amounts), time periods, and procedures cited in our content may be outdated. Always confirm with the official board before relying on any specific number or procedure.

If you find an error, please tell us via the feedback form so we can correct it.

5. Account responsibilities

If you create a PrepPass account:

  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure
  • You may not share your account with others
  • You may not use the Service to test, scrape, or extract content for commercial use
  • You agree to use the Service for your own legitimate exam preparation

6. Intellectual property

The PrepPass name, logo, software, and content (including practice question text and study chapters) are owned by PrepPass. Statutory citations are public-domain references to California law. You may read, study, and personally use the content; you may not republish, resell, or redistribute it.
