Two from the bank, answered.

Real items, with the answer marked and the reason written out — the same format as all 100.

Ophthalmic Optics

What is the focal length of a +2.00 D lens?

  1. A10 cm
  2. B50 cmCorrect
  3. C25 cm
  4. D200 cm

Why: Focal length in meters equals 1 divided by the lens power in diopters. 1 / 2.00 = 0.50 m, or 50 cm. A stronger plus lens would have a shorter focal length.

Dispensing

To relieve a frame that sits too low on the face, the optician should adjust what?

  1. AIncrease pantoscopic tilt
  2. BWiden the temples
  3. CLoosen the temples
  4. DTighten or narrow the nose pads/bridgeCorrect

Why: If the frame slides down, narrowing or tightening the nose pads (or choosing a smaller bridge) raises the frame and improves the fit. Adjusting the bridge controls how high the frame rides.

Questions

Asked before starting.

Is the practice really free, or does it stop after a few questions?

All 100 questions, the timed mock and the report are free with no sign-up. A free account only adds saving your progress. The study guide book is sold separately, $19.99 one-time; nothing in the practice requires it.

Is your mock the same as the real ABO Optician?

No. Ours is 100 questions in 120 minutes; the real exam is 125 questions in 120 minutes. Use the mock for stamina and section timing, not as a score predictor.

Is there a study guide for the ABO Optician?

Yes. PrepPass sells ABO Study Guide — 2026 Edition, a PDF + EPUB download, $19.99 one-time; the practice on this page stays free without it. See the study guide →
