Two from the bank, answered.

Real items, with the answer marked and the reason written out — the same format as all 22.

Crash Avoidance

For maximum straight-line braking in an emergency, you should:

  1. ALock both wheels immediately
  2. BApply both brakes fully without locking the wheels, keeping the motorcycle straight and uprightCorrect
  3. CSwerve and brake hard at the same time
  4. DUse only the rear brake to avoid flipping

Why: The shortest stop comes from firmly applying both brakes without locking either wheel, while keeping the bike straight up and traveling in a straight line. If a wheel begins to lock, ease off that brake slightly and reapply. Braking hard while leaned over or turning can cause a skid.

Preparing to Ride

Which type of helmet offers the best protection and is recommended by safety experts?

  1. AA helmet that meets the DOT standard and covers the full faceCorrect
  2. BA cloth cap worn under a hood
  3. CA novelty half-helmet that meets no standard
  4. DNo helmet, so you can hear traffic better

Why: A DOT-compliant helmet is designed to absorb impact and stay on your head in a crash. A full-face model adds protection for your chin and face. Helmets that only claim to be stylish but meet no standard do little to protect you.
