Rules of the Road & Right of Way
Two vehicles reach a four-way stop at the same time. Right-of-way goes to:
- AWhoever honks first
- BThe driver on the rightCorrect
- CThe driver on the left
- DThe larger vehicle
Why: When drivers arrive together at a four-way stop, the one on the left yields to the one on the right. (Utah Driver Handbook, right-of-way)
Signs & Signals
A red, eight-sided (octagonal) sign means you must:
- AStop only if a train is approaching
- BSlow down and watch for pedestrians
- CCome to a full stop and proceed only when it is safeCorrect
- DYield to traffic on your left
Why: The octagon is reserved for STOP; stop fully at the line or crosswalk and go only when it is safe. (Utah Driver Handbook, traffic signs)
