A personal fall arrest system is an anchorage, connectors and a full-body harness, and may add a lanyard, deceleration device or lifeline; California requires the anchorage to hold at least 5,000 pounds per employee attached, or to be designed under a qualified person's supervision with a safety factor of at least two. Option (a) swaps the harness for a body belt, barred from arrest systems by section 1670(b) since 1998 because the arresting force concentrates on the abdomen. Option (b) lists the parts of a guardrail, which is a passive system that works by keeping the worker from the edge. Option (c) describes a positioning device system under 1670(c), rigged so the worker cannot free-fall more than 2 feet - it holds a worker in place rather than arresting a fall.
