Rules of the Road & Right of Way
At a four-way stop, two vehicles arrive at the same moment. The one that yields is:
- AThe larger vehicle
- BThe vehicle turning right
- CThe vehicle on the leftCorrect
- DThe vehicle going straight
Why: When two vehicles reach a four-way stop together, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. (Rhode Island Driver's Manual, right of way)
Signs & Signals
A red, eight-sided (octagonal) sign requires you to:
- ASlow and merge
- BCome to a full stop, then go when it is safeCorrect
- CYield only to buses
- DStop only at night
Why: A red octagon is a STOP sign. Stop completely at the stop line, crosswalk, or intersection, then proceed when it is safe. (Rhode Island Driver's Manual, traffic signs)
